First I have 5 IT Certs and degrees and my son works for a large printer/business machine company.
Now... The Epson XP-446 has to be the worst printer produced. I have done my best as a tech to work out the Gremlins and bugs, but IF I can get it to function correctly long enough to use up my ink, I will enjoy destroying this most frustrating machine. CONS: The first think a user will notice is the lines in color printing, I did all the task required to remove them and ran print head alignment. If the printer is left unused for several days the print head alignment must be ran before use. Changing ink and with some different types of paper. Epson prided itself of its cheap ink, however running print head alignment uses a lot of ink and I have already change the cartridges twice and printed very little. Its paper feed is a terrible mess. I attempted to print on 5x7 matte foto paper, EVERY sheet was a jam, Insert about 10, jam, one at a time, jam, manually separate the paper, jam. Using 5x7 foto paper the printer jammed 100% of the time. And Yes Epson I did set the printer up for printing in 5x7 and use the paper alignment gauge. The low cost of the Epson is a grab, the high cost of frustration and ink is robbery. Avoid this printer at all COST, it's too costly.
