About a little over a week ago we had a bit of a short wind storm blow through. In a tree in our front yard was a birds nest. The nest took a beating and part was blow apart. One the ground was one time little baby bird, still covered with down and no wing growth. The mama bird was coming down to feed him, but she still had two in the rest of the nest. In time she focused on the two still in the nest. So my my brought in the baby bird. Through research we learned it was a male robin, and she started feeding him wet cat food, then worms. As time went by he grew fast. He lost his down and I started teaching him to fly, dropping him from high above. He seemed to enjoy it. He now flies good, he will come right to me and my wife, he has no fear of us. We are setting him free today, it's time for him to return. We taught him all we could. My only fear is he has no fear of man or sadly dogs. We have a indoor service dog and at first Birdie would cower in fear when Falco barked, but now he just looks at him like, "bring it on...dog". I hope Birdie makes it, my wife got very attached to him.
