Today I will be conducting an interview with DeWayne Watts, author of several intense novels the latest and just released "Still With Eyes Closed". Many people around the country have purchased his novels or read them in libraries and have found then an interesting approach into the human mind. He is ofter asked "Where did you come up with the idea for the story". That question has been asked about "Still With Eyes Closed".
So today we will ask DeWayne where the idea for his latest novel was born.
Interviewer: "Hello DeWayne and thanks for taking the time to talk to me today."
DeWayne: "You're welcome and it's my pleasure."
Interviewer: "the concept behind the story "Still With Eyes Closed" have left many wondering how it came about. What inspired you and how did you come up with this approach?"
DeWayne: "You are correct in saying that I have been asked that question. The root of the story goes back to when I was 14. I was attempting to start writing and most of my stories were short stories. I had several inspirations then, Star Trek being foremost as well as the medical field. At that time however I was too immature to understand the concepts in which I was attempting to write about, so I made notes and tucked them away. In 1988 I married and shortly thereafter I started to developed the story, however my wife thought it dark so I tabled it."
Interviewer: "How long did you table it?"
DeWayne: " I did not pick up the story again until this year 2014, so for almost 26 years."
Interviewer: "What sparked the re-interest?"
DeWayne: "My wife and I were watching the CBS Evening News when they did a story about an elderly man with Leukemia who had received a bone marrow transplant from a young person. They made some grand statements about his remission that in the end turned out false, nevertheless it was the spark. That night I went to bed and dreamed the story, the next day I started writing. Over the course of writing the novel I read in many different magazines about recent medical research that played right into my story, it really is based on current medical science."
Interviewer: "Do you feel that medical science will go in the direction of your novel?"
DeWayne: "If nothing major stops the human race? Yes! I see no other option if humans are allowed to continue on their current path. Mankind had repeatedly attempted some of the concepts in my novel, if medical science reaches the point I have it reach in my story then yes, there will be no reason for the political elements to attempt what I present. Perhaps not in the exact same manner, but in some kind of reflection."
Interviewer: "Well we thank you for you time. Readers, you can find DeWayne Watts' novel "Still With Eyes Closed" on Amazon.com right now. Well worth the read."
DeWayne: "You're very welcome, and I would like to thank all my readers."

My first novel is 61,00+ words "The Boy in The Wood"
My second "David's mark" is about 87,000 words.
My third "Still With Eyes Closed" is about 88,000 words.
So why? I see novels that are 100,000 words +, so why are mine so far under that number?
Glad you asked.
1) No curse words at all. I wanted to write novels that had no swear words at all to see if it could be done. As much at it may surprise people there are millions of people on the planet that do not swear or use curse words. Most may be of a religious nature, but there are others that also refrain from using curse words. So I decided that in ALL my books no curse words.
2) No sex. If your novel HAS to have sex to sell then your selling porn, IMO. I do not see the need to include sex in my novels. If people want to read that stuff there is plenty of it in other books. When we talk to people face to face we do not discuss graphic sex, so I do not include it in my books.
3) No graphic violence. (granted "David's mark" does have some because it is a true story) but I have chosen to refrain from detailed graphic violance.
4) No occult themes.
So are my stories worth reading? I think so as do many others. I focus on people and their personalities. My novels deal with people and how they really are. Some times we do not want to see the dark side of people or society, but that is the reality I write about. So far I have had only good reviews, and many have told me they enjoy reading a novel without all of the above. So

This Saturday 9/27/2014 the Kindle version of "Still With Eyes Closed" Will be ready to order. It is set at $2.99 US.
I approved the final draft of the print edition this morning 9/25/2014 and ordered some personal copies. The publisher/printer should have it listed any day. It is priced at $11.99. Well worth it according to my editor. Thus far he is the only person to read the novel and he has high marks for it.
"Still With Eyes Closed" is a very intense medical thriller, it takes a dark look at a side of humanity that we hope never takes place. The interesting thing is, all the medical information IS from current studies and research. I made NOTHING up. All I did is take the logical medical research and ran it forward to its only conclusion. The other elements in the book were to help develop the story. The medical science in the novel is currently in research and if allowed to continue will be the future of mankind, it is the only logical conclusion. It is a very frighting thought to think about, how the story plays out.
I used many current news accounts to push the story forward. As strange as it sounds the story gives me chills every time I read it. I do enjoy reading my own books, some of them still surprise me. This one really caught me off guard and it is a very disturbing look at the human medical side of thing.
"Still With Eyes Closed" is set to be released this Saturday Sept 27th 2014 for the Kindle version. The print edition should follow on Monday.
Reviews during the writing have been encouraging and I have been asked when I intend to write another.
"Your best work yet." "Worth 5 stars if I could give it more I would." "Very detailed..."
