You see it a lot in forums across the Internet and a lot on Microsoft Help Sites. Either on a new install, new computer, or it just seems to suddenly start.
You open the Windows Store, find the app you want, click or tap GET and NOTHING. There are a lot of very complicated suggestions and they all appeared in the August Issue of Maximum PC. So here is a very simply idea that may fix it easy. Microsoft allows a maximum of 10 devices on one account. That includes devices you once had but forgot to delete from your MS account. So to explain, you have a laptop, desktop, and a tablet. But over the last couple of years you got rid of several devices. On all of them you logged into you MS account through the Store to get apps. So now you MS account is showing several devices. Although Microsoft says the limit is 10, it kicks me out at 6 devices. So the fix is very easy. Log into you Microsoft account through Edge, navigate around until you find your devices and delete ONLY those you are no longer using. Once the unused devices are deleted then try to install Apps from the store again, it should work. Why my account kicks me out at 6 I do not know, so if you see less than 10 do not think it's okay, go ahead and delete the ones you are not using.

Been using Windows 11 for 5 days now on my Surface Pro 3 i5 4Gen Intel Proc and it runs great. Microsoft is now allowing testers to offer suggestions as to what should go into the new OS and some suggestions are on spot. I have included some screenshots in this post from my own system to help ones see some of the differences instead of reviewers describing them. Microsoft removed all the Windows and Microsoft power tools from the Start Menu and placed them all in one single click location, even adding a shortcut to the registry editor, Yesterday we got a huge update for fixes and new features. I can say this, Windows 11 is NOT a Bill Gates or Microsoft creation, someone there listened to users for the first time. This is the most user friendly user OS I have ever used. I only wished this OS could somehow be used in cellphones because Microsoft is on the right track with this and I am convinced that this is Microsoft's one universal OS across every platform. From Desktop to Tablet this just works. I now wish they would allow LAN syncing to all devices without using the Microsoft Cloud. I would like to have all my Microsoft devices on my LAN that I choose to add to auto sync all data.
Being part of the Microsoft Dev Team I was hoping to download and try Windows 11 on my 2015 Surface Pro 3 i5 4400 series tablet. But on Monday June 28th it looked like a big giant no. Then came Tuesday, I was notified that by Thursday I should be able to install it. Thursday I did indeed install it. Here is why.
First; due to feedback Microsoft is considering removing the restriction of older CPU's. That is why they removed the check tool. If you ran it it would fail based on older CPU's. The other restriction is TPM, they were set to only allow 2.0 but it looks like 1.1 will be approved. So the only real restriction is TPM, if your BIOS is set to legacy then you can't install Windows 11, no possible way. To change to TPM will require some very skilled work or just a reinstall of the OS after the BIOS is reset. So hopefully with ones like me testing Windows 11 on older procs, MS will release Windows 11 with the CPU restriction removed. So what is my take on Windows 11? I will tell you this first, I have read many reviews and most compare it to Mac OS or say its not much different than Windows 10. But I am from pre-DOS to Windows to where we are today. I started programming on a TRS Basic 80 way back in the early 1980's. I stayed with programming for many years and although it has left me in the dust, I can still get a few lines of code out. First let me say this, Windows 11 IS NOT a Windows 10 upgrade or overhaul. Windows 11 IS NOT Mac OS. Windows 11 is unique, it's own OS. It is unlike anything Microsoft has yet to develop. I think one way to look at it it when MS went from DOS to Windows 3.11 for Workgroups. It was entirely new. Or from 3.11 to Windows 95. If you have ever used Linux then you will feel comfortable with Windows 11. After my install that was the very first impression I got. It is like a mix of different Linux distros. The Control Settings reminded me a great deal of a past version of KDE. The Start menu being in the middle is a big and welcome change, but its more than moved. It is different. It took a bit for me to relearn it. It's familiar yet different. With doing away with the Live Tiles you will need to relearn how to set it up. Everything that is in the Control Panel has now been shifted to the Control Settings, in the test version I am running the Control Panel still exist but I believe it will be removed in the released version. There is simply no need for it. The Control Settings has all of it's ability plus much more. A lot more options and information. I did not like the Control Settings in W10, but in W11 it is laid out logically and easier to find items. My Computer or File Explorer it very different from Windows 10. It took me right back to XP or 3.11. It is clean, crisp, and basic. Remember in Windows 10 the drop down so you can see a lot of options under different tabs? Although I did like "seeing" everything, it was confusing at times. The File Menu in Windows 11 is very basic, quick and clean. No hunting for options, no clicking tabs for this or that. The icon improvements took me by surprise because they are even in Right Click menus, my word when I clicked Right Click for delete I'm looking and looking for the word, but nope right there on top of the box menu is the trash can. There are a lot of these little things that just make Windows 11 simple. Every reviewer has commented on the ascetics, it is very pretty and cute and the FONT. Microsoft change the font. I never realized how difficult the font was to read in previous Windows until I saw the Font in Windows 11, it was....or is...very easy on the eyes. I have not noticed a quicker boot time, but I do not count 2 seconds as relevant to my life. Windows 11 is more responsive and quicker. I'm not impressed with how Edge preforms, remember the old "preload the entire webpage" before seeing it, Edge is acting like that, do not like it. It seems me battery life is longer, that will take days to judge. Power Users can still access the regedit option and many other power options are still with us. Overall there is nothing to dislike or pick apart, I really think Microsoft has made an out-of-the-box OS that works great. Now the TPM restrictions will remain in place, I agree. But one rumor bothers me, It is said that in the release version MS will require the user to be connected to the Internet during install and the user MUST use the online version of a MS account, no local account and no local account install. Not sure if it will be true, let's hope not. For now I hope MS does allow older procs because Windows 11 is sop far the best OS MS has developed and I think it will cause Linus and Mac users to reconsider Windows again. One final though, there are basically 5 modes to Windows 11 that I have discovered. 1) XBox mode 2) Work from home mode 3) Homeschool mode 4) Regular mode 5) Digital mode (video/photo) I have mine set to 5, let's see what happens. This error has been my nightmare for the last week. Microsoft issued a security update that is deleting this file or breaking the links to it. This is a very important .dll file for Windows's based touch screens and a lot of software. Many sites go into great detail about why, what and how, but people just want it fixed. Download the file below and install it, it's just Visual Studio C++, it is needed on a lot of programs and once installed it will fix the missing .dll eror. If you must know the grit just Google it. ![]()
