SGC Certification Results on 1948 Detroit News Paper with Red Wings Production Line - Gordie Howe7/26/2016 So I heard back from SGC and have already gotten the paper back. The autographs are real. Sid Abel Ted Lindsay Gordie Howe All of the Production Line of the Detroit Red Wings, also Red Kelly the best defensiveman in hockey. So I currently have it listed on Ebay >CLICK HERE< and SGC insured it for $20,000 on its return trip. What make it so unique? 1) The Production Line autographed it with the added signer of Red Kelly. 2) It is on a 1948 Detroit News Paper featuring a playoff story of the Red Wings. 3) Gordie Howe has passed away. Newschannel5 CBS has already ran one story on it and have done an interview with me for the second part which should air soon. Hop over to Ebay and give it a look. These were the kind folks who sold me the paper

News Channel 5 in Nashville ran a lead-tease story about the Detroit Newspaper featuring the 1948 Red Wings. FedEx tracking shows it is on its way to SGC.
Updates to follow. Thanks Nick.
A 1948 Detroit Red Wings Resurrection On July 17th 2016 I went to a yard sale held in an old building. The renters are trying to clean it up to use as a thrift store. But it was a mess, think American Pickers, climbing over and around tight places. Way in the back I saw an old newspaper. I picked it up, 1948 Detroit News sports section. The front page was a story with pictures of the Hockey playoffs, and it had the Red Wings on it. But under the picture...my heart was beating so fast...I asked the store keep how much she wanted...$3. I bought it. Once home I placed it carefully on the table and started researching, I knew noting of hockey. But those 4 autographs under the picture had me intrigued. It turned out to be, Sid Abel Gordie Howe (just died) Ted Lindsay "Red" Kelly I called SGC http://sgccard.com/ We spoke at great length, I explained what I had found. It turned out that these 4 were called the Production Line, but more important, "Red" Kelly appears to have never signed with the other 3. There are a lot of items with the other 3 signing, but not Red. That fact, it being on the sports page with their picture and Howe's death has placed this as a one of a kind item. The man I spoke with at SGC had to call his overseer and he would call me back. The cost to get it authenticated would normally be $150.00. About 30 minutes later SGC called back, they lowered their normal fee to $35. If the autographs turn out to be real this find will make a nice addition to SGC's feather cap and database. Right away they started to encourage me to allow it to go to auction. I am waiting. The paper goes out via FedEx today, being sent to SGC. SGC has kept in close contact via phone and text. I should hear back next week. If it checks out it would be difficult to estimate its value. It is known the autographs were obtained possible in the 60's or 70's, but it changes nothing of value. I will post updates. |
