The following was posted in response to Larry Ennis on a Star Trek Facebook Page. He stated that the Enterprise and other ships MOVED through space while at warp. I attempted to explain warp theory but his answer was based only on what he heard and not his own research. He was unreasonable and emphatically stated "I was wrong". This posting is not to prove him wrong but hopefully allow persons that speak of the physics of Star Trek to get it right. The physicist explaining the warp effect is Lawrence M. Krauss writer of “The Physics of Star Trek” & “The Physics of Star Trek II” Stephen Hawkins also helped to explain it. You mentioned no need of the deflectors if the Enterprise is NOT moving. Sir I correct you, the deflectors primary use is during impulse speed. You were of course overlooking that ability or you would have mentioned it. I also include the “Speed Chart” explaining impulse and warp speeds. Some here, like you, have quoted individual episodes to prove a point. However I remind you there are some episodes that abuse physics and Star Trek physics to move the plot. As is explained by the physics that work on each script, since the days of Gene scientist and physicist have been employed to ensure the accuracy of the science in Star Trek. Nevertheless a few episodes break the laws of physics to employ a plot point. The best and most well-known break is the episode “The Relic” Scotty is using his derelict ship to hold the door open on a Dyson Sphere, in order to do so he must keep the shields at maximum. When the Enterprise-D slips through the door they transport Scotty aboard THROUGH the shields. That feat is impossible. Nevertheless the writers were stuck on how to save him so they broke a rule. It has never been done again and will not be. It was also never satisfactorily explained. Writers sometimes override the script supervisor to move the story. When that happens the “skip” in physics is not accepted in future episodes. In Star Trek 09 (2009 the first JJ Abrams Star Trek) Scotty and old Spock have a detailed conversation explaining the warp effect. In that conversation Scotty acknowledges that the ship NEVER moves. So you see Larry just because someone’s sounds right and wordy does not make it so. If you are going to debate the physics of Star Trek study the physics of Star Trek for yourself and not take someone’s word. If the ship moved then we would be watching Star Wars, fiction. In this photo of my dry erase board I explain my current theory of dark matter/energy. I post it to explain the displacement of spacetime. At Ω .10-7s or .10-7s=.10 seconds to the 7th power of 10 with a curve no greater than .01F. Spacetime can’t be bent at a greater degree. To bend at a greater degree would require more than a billion warp engines. (To curve spcetime to MOVE the object). The solution was to FOLD space. Folding space is possible using E=MC2. But the implications to attain such are current not within reach. (One day I will learn how to make notations properly on a keyboard.)

"Back on the bank they lay on the grass in full exposure of the sun to dry. After drying they dressed and then headed into The Wood. Deep in The Wood they found themselves in the thick of an imagery battle. The Wood was their theater. They were the actors. Their imagination the script. The boys soon encountered a fire breathing dragon, hidden within a cave. From deep inside they heard the cries of helpless women.
“No Mark; let them die. Let the dragon have this lot. There are plenty of women back at the castle to choose from.” “You sir are a knight of the fearless round table, and here you speak of such horrid things. I shall inform the king of your cowardliness.” “The king knows I. He knows that I am not as you speak. I have fought at the kings side in a great many more battles then you shall ever live to see. Perhaps it is you that needs to be vanquished and not the dragon?” “I sir accept your bid to remove me from this world. Prepare to be supper to yonder dragon. I will then free the distressed maidens.” With that Mark’s sword clanked with Jeff’s. In and out of thickets within The Wood was heard the sound of wood clanking wood as their sword’s continued to cross." Doug stood in the doorway to my mother’s bedroom, holding his own knife, which was dripping black drops in my black and white nightmare.
I held my breathing steady. I watched as he made his way across the room and toward the edge of the bed. I held my breathing steady. He stopped, his foot just short of the pool of blood next to my face. I held my breathing steady One day, perhaps in late March nineteen seventy five, Jason tossed all the furniture on the second floor out of the window. Then he perched himself on the eve of the highest part of the roof, and there he sat. Doug tried everything he could to get Jason down, but he was unable to climb that step of a pitch, so Jason sat, crouched like a Gargoyle on the edge of an ancient church. Then suddenly and without any warning he launched himself off the roof of the third story house to land safely on one of the mattresses he tossed out of the window.
Out here on Homestead Brian had tempered, settled down and accepted what had happened all those years ago. She knew that he had found some forgiveness in the blood he had spilled of himself on this soil. Homestead was his redemption. She knew that when the past overtook her, she could rely on his loving arms to take her in and hold her until it washed away.

I played here at night, even falling into an open grave.
