Streaming Low Cost TV Options

2/29/2020

When I was a boy in the 1970's I pulled a knob on the TV to turn it on, then turned another knob to see what was on the 4 channels we got, NBC, ABC, CBS and PBS. Today the options seem endless.
IPTV; which offers all the networks as well as hurndreds of other channels.
Cable, Dish and DirecTV; all three of which require long term contracts and then features locked in packages and the cost continues to increase.
Lastly there is ROKU and a customer pick and choose with pricing control options.

In this post I wanted to share what we optied to do to keep our cost at about $30 a month and still enjoy many of the shows we like.
Here is what we have.

CBS All Access at $5.99 per month. This allows us to wach our local and world news and CBS related shows. We also have the entire CBS and Viacom library on demand.

Amazon Prime, this is kinda like a add on to our Prime account. I have Prime for the free shipping and same day or 2 day shipping. Nevertheless we get Amazon Prime TV which includes te entire IMBD databse, so the options of older TV shows and movies is large.

We were given a free 1 year subscription to Disney+ and you can easily watch everything you wanted to in less than 6 months and it does not appear the content is updated that often, so after our 1 year free account is up we will nix it. National Geographic is part of the Disney network so you get Nat Geo with it and is the only way you can get Nat Geo on it's own.

Smithsonian: I signed up for a 1 year subscription to this channel because it has some very good shows. We will likely keep this channel it is also $5.99 per month.

I wanted the History cahnnel and HGTV but they are not stand alone, you have to pay a huge price for Live Hulu or YouTube TV way too much per month for just a few channels. So I started searching and discovered that the "Discovery Channel" owns about 20 channels, HGTV and History etc included. I kept researching and learned that Philo offers the entire Discovery Channel Network for $20 a month. And all the channels are on damand. So you get HGTV, History, Science, Travel etc for $20 a month and on damand.

Lastly we have JWBroadcasting which is free and offers us our Scriptual channels.

So we pay
$20.00 for Philo
$5.99 for CBS All Acces
$5.99 for Amazon Prime
$5.99 for Smithsonian if we do keep and the only channels we are lacking is ABC and NBC and we can deal with that to avoid the high cost of YouTubeTV and Hulu TV

Shape of the Universe & Gravity

2/6/2020

For some time now I have been working on a theory that will tie the shape of the Universe to gravity, spacetime, speed of light, speed of the Universe, missing mass, and more. I have yet to write it, but intend to start soon and I have to speak to an artist to commission some art work for my concepts. So check back to see what I come up with.

I think I may have just solved all the problems with the Universe.

Audio Version of My Books

2/6/2020

Well, it has been about 3 months since production started on the audio versions of "Still With Eyes Closed", "The Boy in The Wood" and "David's mark".
So how is it going? CRASH!
Kelly Wilmoth finished reading "Still With Eyes Closed" and the files were uploaded to ACX, however 3 times ACX has rejected them, for "loudness". However Mr. Wilmoth IS using the ACX tools to record, edit and adjust, the exact same tools they test with he is using and when he finishes the tools tell him they are within ACX limits. So this brings up a great many questions. If Mr. Wilmoth is using the very tool that ACX test with and the tool approves the recording why is the rep within ACX failing it? It almost appears to be a personal reason. Mr. Wilmoth has currently moved forward with the recording of "The Boy in The Wood".

Now as to "David's mark" well a stage actor in New York has been working on that but I have failed to hear from him. I have sent him 2 messages via ACX, he has failed to reply. Doing audio is stressful.

Disney Star Wars 7 - 9 "Really"

So I have had time to absorb Disney's Star Wars version 9 and then took a shower and got what I could off.  Disney's vision of Star Wars was nothing more than a joke. And not a funny one. In a way it seemed to me that Disney did to Star Wars what Rick Berman did to Star Trek, destroyed it.
So JJ Abrams came in and saved Star Trek with 09 the first movie, but alas he failed iwth Star Wars, because Disney had gutted it.
So is there a save for Star Wars?
Yes, but it requires time travel, in a manner of speaking.
To the year 1991, just prior to that year a man named Zahn worked with Lucas Films and George to produce three novels, which by all rights was episode 7, 8 & 9. However when Disney bought Lucas Arts they scrapped the 3 books and trashed the last 3 movies. The 3 Zahn books are still considered the final work on Star Wars by the fans of the 1970's - 1980's without any doubts, and they actually follow the story picking up  5 years where Return left off.
Much has been written on Zahn and I could not post anything here to add to it, but here are some interesting links
